Stopped out before stop loss reached

Hi, is it common to be stopped out before a stop loss is reached. I’m trading on a demo account right now and I had a sell stop order that hit, but was stopped out before actually reaching the stop loss.

The closest the price came to the stop loss was 1 pip away, but it never actually reached that level. Is something like this common with Forex brokers? That error resulted in a loss of 40 pips instead of a gain of a 100+ pips. I know it’s only a demo account, but if it were a real account that would be pretty bad.

Hi kenpachi,

Your question had been asked before and the answers are found in this thread.

Thanks ray!

ahhhhh — wait one second here !

since you said it was a SELL stop, i presume you went short ?

if you went short, did you include in your stop loss the number of pips within the spread ?

short IS different than long you remember ?

if thats not the case, somethings wrong and time to yelp after you read what ray linked you to !

enjoy and trade well
