Question please about Trade profit

Hey Guys! :5:

OK I’ve been reading this great forum for while and recently began school and demo trading. I wonder please if you can help me with a question about profit on a trade please?

Trade: I went long on EUR USD 1.36165 a trade of 20,000 units with T/P 1.36265 at 10 pips

Calculation: I calculated the profit at 14.6880

I calculated it like this: Units 20,000 x pip 0.0001 = pip value 2
pip value 2 / 1.36165 = profit per pip 1.4688
pips 10 x 1.4688 profit per pip = total profit for trade 14.6880

but paid profit into account = 12.6766

A difference of 2.0114 :43:

I would like to please understand the difference in profit, perhaps it could be the broker fee or commission or something similar that I am not aware of?

Thank you kindly for any feedback it is much appreciated! I really look forward to hearing from you and wish you happy trading! :21:

100 000 units of the EURUSD will give you $10.00/pip (USD)

So, 20 000 units gives you $2.00/pip (USD)
Since you got +10 pips, you would be up $20.00USD.

Wow Thanks for your quick reply!

Sorry I should have mentioned that my account funds are in GBP

ohhhhhh!

20USD = 12.XX GBP profit!

so it was correct!

LOL please accept my apologies!

oh dear, newbies eh :8:

thanks for your help!

All you need to do is take the difference between the open and close that is in your trade statement, and then multiple that by your pip value. You’ll come out with the same 12.6766 and yes its also because of the open and close.
