    Default Email updates

Im confused. When i get an email telling me that someone has replied to one of my subscribed threads, i have to visit the forum again just to get another email update? I didnt look at the forums all day until now and i only got one email update. And then i visited the forums and i got blasted with more emails. Is this right?

    Hey b3thomso,

Thanks for the question. What you're experiencing is by design. For each thread to which you've subscribed, you are notified of the first new reply in the thread since your last visit. You don't get an email notification for every single reply in the thread, but it is possible, based on your activity, that you can receive several email notifications within the same day. It's based on how often you visit the website during the same day and often new posts are added to the thread. This is how the Forum software is programmed out-of-the-box, and unfortunately, we have no way to change this behavior.

You do still have the choice to being updated through the Forum control panel, clicking USERCP | Subscriptions from the Forums menu. This method obviously requires that you log into the website, but Subscriptions will show every thread you are subscribed to, by the order that they were last posted to. You could check in daily to cut down on the amount of email you have to sort through.

If email is what you want, "Instant" subscription in its current design is what you'll have to work with. You can also change email notifications to daily or weekly.

To summarizes, there are 4 subscription types:
    1. Instant Subscription through your user control panel
    2. Instantly, using email
    3. Daily, using email
    4. Weekly, using email
Again, you will only receive an email notification for the first new reply in the thread since your last visit, whether choosing instant, daily or weekly subscriptions.

    Hopefully that explains it.

Thanks for the feedback, Mr Gone. We'll have a look at banned user's comments still coming through in email notifications. It's worth a deeper look. Thanks!
