Is it right some brokers hack their software and stack everything in
there favour?

A lot of traders use MT4. Although the execution and modification of trades is user unfriendly and disgustingly retarded, it is useful for analysis.
Lots of brokers provide MT4 and also their own online platform. I like Oanda’s, and they got super low spreads. I use Oanda’s platform for executing trades, and MT4 for charting and analysis.
I’ve heard lots of people complaining that their brokers spike the prices, hunt stop losses, make platforms crash at crucial times, etc. Not sure how much of that is paranoia, and reporting bias. I’d say stick with the bigger brokers, and read their reviews on Forex Peace Army website.

I use trade station and love it. 2000 opening deposit required though even just to demo. I also follow the stock market and that’s all included on the same platform so that I really like.
According to me, MetaTrader and ZuluTrade is good software for forex trading.
I did not hear anything about it so far.
