Guys not to be a jerk or anything but I really think we should keep this thread about smart fx. I notice lately we are all bringing up other ea's here and on other threads. I mean its okay to mention but overall this ea is about smartfx. Don't get me wrong comparing smartfx to other ea's is ok but if you want to know about kangaroo why not go to the kangaroo thread?
As for my results so far I am -14% for the year (roughly -10% for April) Its not that bad. To me the dd is acceptable
come visit my new blog forexferacity.com show me some love :-)
V10 seems to be too conservative. My EAs have been running on a demo MB Trading account. V9 , right before I upgraded to V10 managed to bring back the bacon and having lost about 8% it came roaring back and brought the account back up to a postive 9%! (mainly attributed to BH)
Since switching to V10, the EAs have been losing steadily and they have given up 7% out of the 9% that
v9 had earned.
It appears that v10 is working too conservatively as losses are relative small but steady.
Robert and team - do you have a 3 year backtest performed using BH and MS v10 robots? If so can you post the link?
I monitor the Pepperstone myfxbook page but that is not a good indicato anymore since the results are mixed with V9.
My combo robots will remain in demo mode until the situation improves.
Hello Fxtrader200,
We are revamping our website and the 3 year backtests will be posted there soon. They are excellent, and yes, they favor trading with less drawdown than previous versions, even if some weeks they seem to be threading water.
I'll post the link as soon as they are published on the new site.
I'm curious if anyone has run their own backtests and might be able to assist me.
I'm trying to run the backtests for the SmartFX EA, to compare the basics of v9 vs v10.
I realize news filter will not be part of the backtest.
I'm not sure about the GMT offset, or if I have it set right. Obviously, I get very different results with it changed. When I bring up a currency, it appears to have the time be in the Eastern time zone.
I made these backtests. Can anyone assist in letting me know if they think I did it wrong or might have some insight on how I can do them properly, especially if I set anything wrong or setting the GMT time correct?

Thanks...
hello Grover77777
You do need to change the GMT for backtesting, and you need to know what is the GMT of your historical data. If you are downloading it from Metaquotes that is not easy to determine, and may not be the same as your broker.
I tried your link and could not see your backtests. If you want me to take a look or have questions please email me directly.
Just started with these on one of my smaller accounts to see how it worked.
So far two really good trades on EurUsd and UsdJpy and moderately good trade on EurCad. Doing pretty well this week.
Hello Sandybeach,
The Breakout Hunter has had a very decent year. Most accounts that trade it independently are having a very constant 2.5% per month return with a maximum 9% drawdown. Last year was better, but this is not bad for the trading climate this year.
The TP in default is 108 pips for the combination of up to 3 orders that makes up the trade. SL is 100 to begin with, but it changes along the way, with trailing stops and SL corrections kicking in at different times of the trading session. TP also gets reduced to only 20 pips after 4 hours to cash out on lingering trades that go nowhere.
That TP of 3 pips that you proposed would be too small, you'll never offset the spread in the long run.
Hello Traders,
Our new website is up, and it contains the requested backtests for version 10.
