Default Will EAs run in MT4 when the program is closed?

I'm just wondering if I turn an "expert advisor" on and then I close the MT4 platform, will it still be working and placing trades even when it's not open on my computer? Or do I need to have it open all the time for it to work?

Just wondering if I need to leave my computer and internet on 24/7 while I'm sleeping, at work, etc just to run it. Thanks!

The EAs work only if MetaTrader is open, so by extension your computer must be turned on for MetaTrader to execute and for the EA to place and monitor trades.

If you don't want to have your computer turned on permanently, you could purchase a VPS (Virtual Private Server) and install Windows and MetaTrader on it: you would then connect via Remote Desktop to the VPS in order to work on MetaTrader. Many providers offer VPS for a monthly fee, with the option of having a managed service or an unmanaged service; a managed service and the Windows license can raise the monthly cost quite a bit.

Well... damn, that sucks. haha.
Especially since MT4 seems to randomly disconnect me if I'm inactive for a long period of time.
