Who blew up their account today? (yuan intervention)

Just saw the news about the Chinese central bank massively devaluing the yuan. Did anyone get hurt today? It’s like the SNB all over again.

I had a short on the CHFSGD which got stopped out, and suffered 20 pip slippage. It only hurt my account by a few percentage points.

Hello Kevin,

sorry about your losses…

This is good news for Aussie shorts and Kiwi shorts (not the garment, that is(!))

as they took a plunge… I discussed this on another thread but I was very pleased

to see that GBP/NZD had recovered more than three hundred pips overnight…

This bit of news may be as good as it gets for today, as the European/US sessions

are almost devoid of big catalysts…

All eyes are pointed toward that 17th September appointment… Little else matters now

for the Majors… or at least, not as much…

Pleased to hear your loss was manageable, Kevin. (Both the top two threads in this part of the forum relate to “SGD accidents”, at the moment, albeit that the cause of this one was the Yuan intervention.)

You people trade SGD :o

What’s wrong with the majors or more familiar pairs to trade on ?

I’ve never traded it, myself. It depends on your trading style and durations, I think? Nothing wrong with the majors, for me, but I’m only looking for small, intraday volatility/trends.

Never touched the Y myself.
