That's a pretty broad question with no specific answer. It depends on various factors, including your trading style, the time frame you use, etc.

As a newbie, the first thing you should do is go through the free Babypips school:

School of Pipsology - - Beginner's Guide to Forex Trading, Free Forex Education, Learn to Trade Forex, Forex Training - BabyPips.com

It will give you a lot of information on all aspects of Forex trading, including various indicators.

Taking the time to do as In2Blues suggest is a MUST do for anyone starting out. I cannot think of ANY BETTER way to begin learning about forex.
I would spend a minimum of several weeks going through the info contained in the "School" section here. I would go throught that section several times before I moved on and would return to it many more times later on.

As for your question, I would advise you to not even think about it for now. There are so many more important topics to begin to understand than that.

Please take In2Blues suggestion to heart, you will not regret it when you look back years from now if you indeed stick it out.
I would suggest that AFTER you have digested the great info contained here in the School section you might want to give the following thread a read or two.

A person can spend YEARS on the indicator treadmill , some forever, but there is more to Trading successfully
than searching for that magic bullet .
Good luck
