The robots you are talking about are mostly EA's (Expert Advisors) used in MetaTrader 4. Some other platforms also allow such automated trading.
How many pips you can get will depend on what the EA is designed to do. Each EA is designed for a specific strategy. There is no generic "I want to make 50 pips" EA.
A search through the forums will give you info on different EA's and their strategies.
Your best bet is to learn to trade first. Otherwise, how will you know if the EA is doing what it should? Unless, of course, you prefer to simply allow the EA to control your money without knowing how much you're losing.
