Default Re; Fib. retracement for GBP/USD trade earlier 2'day..

In regards to GBP/USD Valid trade made 2'day, can pls. confirm if i've drawn Fib. retracements correctly (Purple circles to show extreme significant High & Low) ?

Also, chart shows that price retraced to 50% (see Green circle @ Entry level)

Thanks - Stef.

Default Fib. Extension Level for GBP/USD Trade..

Firstly, can pls. kindly comment if Fib. Extension is same as Fib. Expansion on MT4 ?

Secondly, having drawn the Fib. Ext. (3 Purple circles) for GBP/USD trade, today, it seems that i may have exited way to early ?!

Why has it drawn only 3 levels (Green circles) ?

Pls. advise - Stef.

all these indicators are 50-50 signal.. i cannot see how it can be profitable long term after backtest.. maybe i've missed something essential...
But for me stoch is really unreliable..it can be 4 to 5 tops and downs in a row...
Reading IBs is another thing.. on a slope type situation if IBs formed on the slope at times not effective...
In the end is all 50-50...
I should be enlighted by winners...

If you, plot analyze & execute any indicator in the manner to which most users trade them, then I agree they are completely ineffective. Typically, the way in which a popular oscillator is observed & utilized by the masses offers nothing but pain & grief in the long term, particularly via a micro timeframe.

However, if you've read the guts of this thread (along with the LIVE thread) you'll realize that this strategy uses support/resistance guages in tandem with divergences. The inside & outside bars are merely the trigger.

The use of an oscillator, particularly when it's observed during pullbacks to and/or moves away from supply-demand zone in the direction of a dominant trend flow, is a very different kettle of fish indeed.

It's all in the way you observe, interpret & execute.

These indicators (moving averages, oscillators etc) are not used correctly at all by the majority of retailers. In fact I'd go as far as to summize that 95% of them actually lose money consistantly in the process.

Hi James,
Thanks heaps for the response.

Entry rule stipulates that:
To enter a trade wait for the next bar after the IB to go up 1-2 pips higher than the IB for a buy signal...

As per attachment, should'nt entry have been 2'nd candle from IB ?

OR is entry based on difference (1-2pips) of HIGH's between IB & Entry candle ?

Or is entry based on something else...

P.S; Does diff. strictly have to be 1-2 pips or can it be more ?

Default Re; Trade Stop Loss..

Hi James,

I know you mentioned that you don't use STOP LOSS in the IB system, but, as i'm a complete novice, i'd like to use a STOP LOSS in the system until such time i feel comfortable..

Can you recommend a TIGHT STOP LOSS strategy for the system ?

1. Do i place a Trade Stop Loss 5-10 pips below or above the REVERSAL CANDLE pattern which is used to trigger the trade ?
2. Pls. advise value of STOP LOSS. Is it between 20 & 60 pips ?

Thanks - Stef.
