New to Trading

Complete trading novice. Currently an automotive sales manager. Looking for a way to support my family and get my life back if things go really well, supplement my income and put my kids through school at the very least. I’m very good with numbers and understand the principles behind financial markets. I’m I crazy to think that I can make a comfortable living doing this?

Not crazy. There is a lot to learn, not the least of which is emotional control. You need trading rules and the discipline to follow them; a realistic understanding of losses, enough time looking at charts to understand patterns and momentum, and when NOT to take a position. I’ve been goofing around with this off and on since 2008, and I’ve gained enough wisdom to profit from 80% of my trades and see my account always growing. With that said, I’m only playing around with a few dollars to a few tens of dollars per trade. The emotional influence changes for me when up my lot size.
