Is there an indicator to avoid whipsaws?

i was wondering if anyone uses a certain method to know when the market is whipsawing on a 5 min chart?

Thanks in advance

I used to use:

Damiani Volatmeter
Chop Index
Historical Volatility

Now I know that:

Simple moving averages can tell you this or get rid of all the indicators and look at the price which is faster than indicators.

If you still want indicators, you can also try using strength meters (the spaghetti kind–oscillators). For example if you are trading EUR/USD, you will know it will be choppy when the EUR line is about the same strength and about parallel to USD line. When the lines are far apart, it means there’s a trend.

Sorry for the newbie question! Is whipsawing the same as being choppy? :open_mouth:
