Default MT4 help please

I apologize in advance for asking something sure to have been answered a few dozen times now. Unfortunately, I've been searching, but I can't find my answer.

How do I install custom indicators into MT4? I've tried figuring it out, but I'm getting no where.
I'm trying to install .ex4 and .mq4 files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Put the .ex4 file in

C://ProgramFiles/YourMT4Program/Experts/Indicators

Close MT4 and re-open.

A shortcut that I found with .mq4 files is to open them in the Meta Editor, and then compile them. It will refresh the indicator list with the new indicator/EA in it so you don't have to close MT4 and re-open it.

Thanks for the help guys!

I've successfully got them in the custom indicator file, but nothing shows up when I try to open them on a chart.
Does each indicator need a mq4 and et4 file?

Are these files related together as in a system?... or unrelated indicators?

It's a system, but not a system written as a whole for MT4.
Basically, it's a system predicated on several custom indicators that I found on a different site. I'd post the link, but IDK if that's permissible here.

It's something I wanted to demo for a while, but can't get the indicators to actually show up.

Unfortunately, I'm still having trouble with the custom indicators.
I moved the mq4 files from my desktop to the experts/indicators folder. I've closed and reopened MT, but still can't find the c.i.'s.

Is there something stupid I'm missing?

Make sure it was the .ex4 file that was moved. I believe the mq4's are just source code (I could be wrong).

When you say moved, how did you move them? If you see a file on your desktop with the yellow diamond icon and .mq4 extension, right click and chose save as and save to your experts>>indicators folder. Close and reopen MT4. If you see it in the indicators list under custom indicators .. you should be able to add it to a chart. If not .. maybe the problem is with your MT4 program. Either uninstall & reiinstall it, or try another MT4 demo from a different broker.
