It's also good to try and figure out how you learn best before you start. I'm the type of guy who learns much more with a book and trial and error, I don't particularly learn that well with other people trying to teach me. I know other people who can't seem to learn anything on their own, but can really pick stuff up with someone else showing them the way.

BTW I joined the James IB group for a few days last week and it was very beneficial for me to see someone who knows what they are doing going about their business...
