Parabolic SAR - dot when?

A really basic question (I think) but is the first Parabolic SAR dot to appear above or below a candle based on that candle’s open? Or on which value?

(See I still can’t stop).

Good (Saturday) Morning,

It would seem that I have over simplified matters and that there is a lot more to this indicator than I thought AND my question above therefore is invalid.
