FXCM is a broker that offers different sets of software to use to trade forex.

If you want to know the best broker...that's kind of subjective. I use Oanda b/c of all the reviews I've read they seem to get the best for a broker...although I believe and ECN is the best...but they usually are commission based instead of on a spread.

Now for software, most places use metatrader 4...and that's also what most people make EA's for, and templates, and indicators...so I'd learn that first. This is also because even if the broker you use doesn't offer MT4, you can always use a demo from another broker and place your trades with anyone.

FXCM's charts and operations are easy to use. I used them when I was beginning my study, but I don;t have a live account with them.

I Started with MT4 and still use it for charting sometimes but mostly use Oanda now. I dig the spreads for the most part and the carts are pretty good once you get them all set up.

I generally just dig the software's layout and ease of use.

I'd say MT4 since that is what a lot of brokers use. Oanda is good for setting up a practice account if you haven't set one up already. I mainly use MT4 for charting and only use the Oanda interface for placing trades.
