Question regarding long and short (exchange rate)

Hi All,

i m new in forex, would like to seek help as follow:

I have registered for a FXGame demo account at Oanda, after going through the manual FXTrade User Manual, i got confused on the following:

Trades Table section:
Current: The current exchange rate for the trade’s currency pair. The current bid rate is displayed for long positions; the current ask rate for short positions.

Order Table section:
Current: The current exchange rate for this order’s currency pair. The current ask rate is displayed for long orders; the current bid rate for short orders.

for long position / short position when should i refer to ask rate and when should i refer to bid rate?

if you are entering a long position, you look at the ask
if you are entering a short position, you look at the bid
if you are exiting a long position, you look at the bid
if you are exiting a short position, you look at the ask
