From what I’ve seen the market, at certain times, can be very unpredictable. I assume this is due to news releases and such, so I am just wondering what times of the day news releases come out which affect the market. I am in the Canadian Eastern time zone but you can answer me in any time zone you want and I’ll convert it.
If you click on the Tools tab at the top of the page, there is a calendar there that shows the time that news comes out. Some news items cause bigger swings in price than other.
I was going to suggest that, but didn’t know if the powers that be here on BP would mind me plugging another site. I guess they don’t mind then…
Thanks guys. The calender at Forex Factory is great, exactly what I need.
Here’s another post which has some info on the functionality of the Forex Factory Calendar: 301 Moved Permanently
For me the best calendar is ACMs. You can subscribe to any event you want (of course, 4free) just putting your email and it sends you and email like 15 min before the announcement with the previous sentiment.
PS: dont forget about the Payrolls this Friday!!! What do you predict???
If you have MT4 and would like the calender for a specific pair right on your chart, with the previous & forecasted info, then you’d like this indicator…

When you attach it to your chart, you have to check mark the Allow DLL. The calendar comes from forex factory. Enjoy
Hi Sweet Pip, i get an error message when i try to unzip the file.
Sorry bout that…thought I could just grab the link of where I posted it before, but apparently not. Try this…

Thanks Sweet Pip, after i put onto a chart my IBFX MT4 freezes up! lol, not to worry, i willfix it.
I think it is just trying to update the charts or something.
Edit: above when i said thanks i was being sincere and meant it, and not being sarcastic. just thought i would make sure you knew that.
Not to worry
I use it on IBFX too. I know there was a change in the code regarding where on FF it was pulling the info from so I found this post and perhaps you need to do this, or make sure it says this…
You have to modify the URL of the calendar in the indicator.
This is how you can do it:
1. Open the FFCal indicator in the MetaEditor (right click on the indicator in the platform and click "Modify")
2. Find this line:
string sUrl = "http://www.forexfactory.com/ff_calendar_thisweek.xml";
3. Change it to this:
string sUrl = "http://cloud.forexfactory.com/ffcal_week_this.xml";
4. Press the "Compile" button on the top of the MetaEditor (or press F9)
5. Close MetaEditor
It works! Thanks for the quick update.
Note if your charts have a black background change the colors within the “Colors Tab” first or you won’t be able to see it.
I use Bloomberg’s economic calender too:
Although you can’t beat the ForexFactory one
Babypips has the same economic calendar as forex factory…click on the tools tab above.
I love that I don’t have to go to either one though, cause this puts it right there on the chart, just for that pair, and tells you how long in mins/hours/days until the next news release is scheduled!!!
sweet pip, I just put that indicator on my chart. it puts a vertical line on my chart, what is that? is that the news time?
Which chart? What color is your background?
Ive got it on a gbp/usd chart 1h, black background but in the indicator, I changed all the colors to something other than black,
Well…I don’t know what that is…lol.
I have it too, but only on the GU chart…the other charts I have up don’t have it.
I checked the code, and the vertical line that will display when news happens is a dotted line, and this is solid. If I find something out, I’ll let ya know.
