Try EurUsd, most traded and low spread.
ya i started trading EUR/USD its probably one of the best in my opinion and like jado said it is the most traded
i also trade GBP/USD which is another good pair but is more volatile and has a higher spread
yep I was scared to trade any thing else for a while

I agree with the replies to date but you might also like to take a look at GBP/JPY… its infamous for big trending patterns. 
Consider trading eurjpy. This pair is active during London, New York and Asian sessions, has a big enough trading range to give ample opportunities for profit and is not as erratic as gbpjpy.
