Is it good/bad using MACD on a 1 or 5 minute chart?

If it is good, what settings should you use?

12 26 9 is the recommended settings for 1 and 5 minute charts

Hi!

I like to use the moving averages to set up a trade and then I like to use the oscillators to fine tune the entry with minimum risk.
In 5 and 1 minute charts, I use macd(21,55,8) and stochastic(8,3,5).

I have a pdf from Fxbootcamp explaining the use of oscillators.

Hoping it helps

Thanks

Short time frames like those will whipsaw you a lot. However, if you can do it and find an edge, then it is good. If not, it’s bad.

There’s usually no reason to change the standard settings, which as mentioned, for MACD is 12, 26, 9.

Good luck

from one newbie to another, I find the 1 minute charts to volatile/quick to actually make a call. From what I’ve read you’re better of leaving the default values as they are until you know what you’re doing.

I find the 1 hour, 4 hour and daily time frames somewhat reliable. But then again, that’s just me. You should use what you’re comfortable with.

Can i get your set up for 5 minutes and 1 minutes scalping, thanks sir
