As far as some people are concerned, it already exists. It's call gold.

Of course, those are the folks that want to go back to the gold standard.

Like that answer!!!!

And it could never ever happen. Some still debate the success of the eur….. and I read a good article on how although the eur is fixed the real exchange rate between say France and Italy is still fluctuating through inflation.
