    Default Forex vs. Stocks

    Hello,

So here it is, Saturday night and I'm studying my pips. Oh what fun! (LOL)

As I'm reading this material, I see phrases like "Fundamental Analysis" and "Technical Analysis". These phrases also show up in the world of stocks.

Would it help me in my Forex education to study Technical Analysis in the stock market in addition to what I'm doing here? They seem to be similar.

TA is very useful in both Forex and stocks, but some indicators act different in forex than they do in stocks. I do not see any need to study stocks, unless you trade them as well.

The technical aspect is almost the same.

The indexes themselves offer better technical study options because the futures trade the same hours as forex.

If you are looking at individual stocks, because of the short trading hours, they gap almost daily. That plays a little differently from a technical standpoint than a 24 hour market does. But the standard s/r fibs... Blah blah blah still apply.

However, the fundamentals of individual equities vs currency are extremely dissimilar. You have a whole new set of things to consider. And they aren't all related to the drivers of currencies.

In short, the technical study would be a worthwhile investment of time, but the fundamantals would be pointless.

On the other hand, let me point out that an understanding of the fundamentals of FOREX is absolutely, positively required and extremely important, as witnessed by the many websites dedicated to timing of news events, even website like trade the news . com streaming real time announcements
