A question about fractional pips

Why is it that some brokers quote fractional pips? What is the purpose of doing that?

I’ve come to the conclusion that it is just to irritate the hell out of us.

But a more practical reason would most likely be spread related, and broker attractiveness. You can’t have a 1.5 pip spread on the e/u if you don’t have trade options in those decimal points.

I’ve not really heard an official reason, but I am thinking that is fairly close to it.

I agree with the irritating part lol. Also, my ibfx demo went from 2 pips EURUSD spread to 2.2 pips! lol.

Kinda like gas prices.

$2.89 9/10

Think of how much they make daily off that last 9.

Thieving bastards!!!

Odd that IBFX did that.

My live IBFX account still has it a 2, and most times less…

Well, it helps you gain that extra 0.5 pips of profit!

i’m just thankful oanda let’s me turn the “pipettes” off so they aren’t an eyesore on my y-axis. but not to worry, i’m still getting the “fractional pip discount” on my spreads.

0.9 EUR/USD w00
