You are going to have to find a broker that suites your fancy. Oanda, IBFX, FXCM to name a few. Research them, run some demo accounts on all the ones that you are interested in.
Software? Several of the brokers offer proprietary trading platforms while others offer Metatrader 4 or 5 as well.
While you are in the babypips school you should be already running demo accounts and developing a money management plan that will take into account the size of the account you intend on starting.
Size your demo accounts to what you will realistically be able to deposit when the time comes to go live.
