New trend or trend

Im on a push for info today,

Do most traders aim to trade with the trend or the start of a new trend, iv noticed through testing, that indicators have varying degrees of succes whether trading with the trend or the start of a new one.

For me i prefer to look up a few time frames to confirm the larger trend then try to go long only in an uptrend and short only in a downtrend, using various indicators to form entries/exits. However you can also trade the start of new trend when different indicators confirm there is one taking place instead of waiting to trade within it.

Basically what im asking (since i dont want many and/ors in my system) is which in your opinion is the better way of trading, im obvioulsy going to look into it myself but would just like to gather opinions.
