    Default Moving average question

    Moving average question,

    When someone says they are using moving average what type of moving average are they talking about? In particular in this video below what moving average is she talking about, Simple, exponential,?

    On anything above the 50 period MA, I doubt if you can tell the difference as the number of periods will smooth the MA.

    So what if it was lower? like 8 10 15 20

    You will definitely notice the difference between exponential and others on those periods. The EMA looks like it "hugs" the prices and the others are smoother. You might even notice the difference between using the Close (very common setting) and other prices.
