Value/pip example of the AUD.HKD

Hello,

I wonder about a value/pip example of the AUD.HKD. The pip calculator on the site doesn’t show this pair and wonder about if my calculation below is correct.
I use 775.000 HKD which is equal to 100.000 USD. The answer I get is 1.82 USD/Pip.
I simply wonder if one pip value only is worth 1.82 USD. Because I compare to if using 100.000 in EUR.USD, then 1 pip is worth as much as 10 USD?

The account is in USD.
Size in HKD: 775000
Exchange Rate AUD.HKD: 5.4847
Exchange Rate USD.HKD: 7.7500

Pip value in HKD
((1 / 10000) / 5.4847) * 775000 = 14.13 HKD/pip

Now if we want to convert this to USD:
14.13 / 7.7500 = 1.82 USD/pip

Your math is correct. — Using the USD/HKD and AUD/HKD prices in your example, the pip-value (in USD) for your position-size is 1.82 USD per pip.

Three points:

B Your USD/HKD price (7.7500) is the correct current price.

However, your AUD/HKD price (5.4847) is not correct. The correct AUD/HKD price is 5.6896. If you use the correct AUD/HKD price, you will calculate a slightly different pip-value.

B It might simplify your calculations in the future (if you want to continue doing these by hand) if you keep in mind that —

any pair of the form XXX/HKD has a pip-value of 10 HKD per pip, per standard lot.

Furthermore, to generalize the rule –

any pair of the form XXX/YYY has a pip-value of 10 YYY per pip, per standard lot.
