Day trading gets a real bad rap - but it really is not for everyone

Hi my name is JUMP123 and I have finally decided that at age 50 there has to be more to life. While I am still in the learning and dummy account stage everyday I learn something new that gives me confidence to keep pushing on and also allows me to reflect on me last negative (LOSS) trade and realize what I did wrong.
I don’t about trading much not at least until I am up and running because most of the people around will probably have me committed for reasons of temporary insanity after day trading is reckless and you could probably make more in the casino.
Well at the stage of my life my best chance of having a decent retirement plan does not lie with the RA at my insurance company as their results and returns are not looking all that good. So if I pay attention, learn learn learn and keep learning and then listen to good advice from sound mentors I can build a much better retirement this was and have a relative amount of control over the outcome.
I am super excited about the road ahead!!!

Welcome. I’m new here too.
I thought it was just me that criticised day-trading, everything else I read seems to regard it as the only way to be a trader. Honestly, I believe that misapprehension alone causes 90% of account wipe-outs in trading.

Hello, welcome to the forum. I hope it will be of much help to you on your way to learning how to trade.

Your case sounds like mine. Plan on retiring in 3 yrs. Should be enough time to learn how to use the mouse properly. Been at it a few years already but with time and discipline being in short supply, trading was naturally compromised. Hope to meet you on some island playing golf in a few.

Hey Jump.
Mike here. Hey, I was at, where your at right now, almost 4 yrs ago. I’m 49 now. And it has been a long road. I always knew that it was gonna be. But, it really does take a long time to get good. The only thing that keeps me going is the love I have for the game. There is nothing on earth more exciting than this trade. And nothing can pry my hands away from this either.
So, I just want to encourage you to hang in there, no matter how long it takes. Enjoy the walk. Don’t get too stubborn on anything. (You know us older guys)
BTW…I started documenting my journey here in BP’s on the start of my 4th year, back in Jan of this year. My thread is in ‘Journals’ section. So many up’s and down’s.
In any case, it’s so awesome to see someone in a similar situation as I am. Thanks Jump for clueing us all in on yourself.

Hope to see you around!
Mike

It does get tough sometimes on the fx journey ,refreshing and sound add in Mike :59: and welcome to BP wish all the best

Welcome! I’ve been doing this for 4-5 years now. Stick with it, and remember to risk very small when first starting out. The first goal is to survive, and if you survive long enough, you’ll learn the lessons needed to succeed in this game. Too many people give up too soon before they make those critical breakthroughs. Best of luck!

Day Trading Not= Trading daily. :58:
