1 yr under my belt

Hi everyone.
Well, it’s been one year for me. The very beginning of this year was the start for me. I started out knowing absolutely nothing about the forex market. I’m old enough to know when things are a passing fancy or not. And this I’ve known is the rest of my life. I have enjoyed learning how the market works, came across different strategies, and just tried to figure out how I can make it work given my current lifestyle.
Most of the year I was trying to figure it out all by myself, but then realized I need to learn what others think and are doing. That was all thanks to Babypips. This is truely the place to come and learn.
I like to read up on the new posts and find it very interesting those (many I tell ya) who are gonna give it a go in the forex world. Just like many people here do say, I will say it too. It will take a lot of time and research to learn what’s going on in the market. We all know also that you have to come up with a good trading strategy, tried and true before you go live.
So, given that, I would like to hear from those who have been in this one complete year (from knowing nothing). I’m sure your serious, if in it this long. Are we at a level where it’s just experience needed? I don’t know, maybe I’m still a baby. I do think I know alot. But, in comparison to these brand new ones trying to come aboard, I do know what it will take to become…good…successful…staying afloat.
I’ve never been so excited about anything than this. One of these days, I will become successful. However long it takes.
So, you new ones out there…you must have the passion and drive to excel in this business. It is very very difficult. You need people around you to learn from. (read about anyway)
1 yr people, what do ya think?
Mike

Mike I am brand new, just started trying my first EA and my first manual trades on a few test accounts. I only started after reading a book I was pointed at. I shortly found babypips after doing some internet searching and I find the layout and format very nice for reading and looking around.

I have a question for you. Since you have been in this one year, starting from where I am now, can you point me at any useful resources?

What comes to mind when I say, “I wish I knew then what I do now.”? I have been trying to compile a list of websites, books to read, and places for information. I also would like to learn what EAs there are that can help with proven strategies.

I wish you another year of staying positive Mike, sounds like you really like this. I hope a year from now I feel like you do right now.

Happy Trading!

Hi Razdan!
Well for any resources…you definitely need to go through babypips school of pipsology. That will get you to understanding it all from the big picture down to some specifics. We all have to start that way. And the more you remember and understand, the better. Another thing I did, still do, is read as much as possible anything and everything here in babypips. There are some really smart people around! There are not only beginners here, there are many veterans who reach out to us youngsters.
And once you really wrap your head around it all, you will be looking for that strategy that you need. That’s the smart thing to do. There’s so many different ones. There are a lot of camps, clubs, groups that you can join here in BP. Each have a particular way of looking at the market. Try them. In here you will find many “price action” camps. That is very important to learn. I have learned so much from the people in Babypips. It was always my central info point. I would research different systems that originated from here, via the web.
And concerning EA’s…I’m sorry, I don’t know anything about that. BUT MANY PEOPLE IN HERE DO. There are many threads that address all you need to know about that.
I hope to see you around.
Just read read and read some more.
The market is so very complicated. And from what I’ve read, it will take years to really become successful at it. But, all we want right now is to find that edge to make money and stay in it.
Oh, and remember, you must enjoy the walk. If it’s only about the money, you won’t last.
I’m around Razdan.
See you soon.
Mike
