A rough week weathered by a newbie

Hello,
I am pretty new to trading and all of my previous weeks have been profitable but last week was tough for me - I lost 30% of my account.
Yes - I followed good money management and yes I followed my plan (the majority of the time - still new and learning to control my emotions) but anyway I lost a lot more times then I won. All of the previous weeks I won more then I lost.

I was just wondering if anyone else had a bad week last week…

I’m new as well I got pretty knocked around last week also until I took a “if you can’t beat them join them attitude” Before that point I was in a long position on eur/usd so you can imagine what that looked like :frowning: I’m still in a practice account so I didn’t lose my real money but I was pretty riled up all the same. I learned a valuable lesson that I am glad I learned while still in demo imo-my broker is most definitely not my friend. I also learned that their news feeds aren’t as “live” as they think they are lol. At this point I am just practicing winning and losing my money. (I know probably sounds odd) I have read many places that the difference between make or break in this market is the ability to gain back what you lost. So last night and today I have practiced exactly that. I hope this week goes better for everyone. I just wanted to let you know you weren’t the only person to get hit over the head and dragged, Raven

Be careful about blaming your broker. They didn’t place those trades. If you take responsibility for your loss you will be quicker to correct why you did it rather than blaming the market, broker, moon and stars etc.

the more of you that loss your money, the more i make, glad to see theres lots of newbies, more money for me lol

i only made about 300 pips in the last two days, so sorry for all you little people that lost out.

Oh I didn’t realize that I implied I blame them. My apologies for sending the wrong message. I don’t blame them for a loss, and I don’t congratulate them for a win. I am just open minded enough to realize that when they take a position against me They are wanting to win that position as well as I am. If I am incorrect in that thinking please let me know as I am very new to trading and that is only my understanding. Maybe it is only the fact that I am in a demo account and thus at the bottom of the barrel. But I have learned more here than my broker will ever teach with their trade calls that come 4 hours late, and research articles that aren’t updated until after the trading day is closed. The information they imply they will give is mostly hindsight, and misleading, therefore I look for other ways to even the gap. But if you know a great psychic give me their number  Raven

Well good for you, though i hardly see how this is constructive to the conversation. You will at one point be on the other side, that is for sure.

I too had a rough week, i let what i believe lead me astray, instead of just working off what the charts told me. That was my first losing week outa the last 6 months, all cause i expected a bottom on the EUR/USD around 1.5250, got blown through.

Live and learn

I lost about the same % last week. The USD broke through a HUGE resistance level RIDICULOUSLY fast… I am sure a lot of traders got burned last week. Don’t think necessarily that you did something wrong or your system is wrong, I have consistent winners and I still got destroyed last week.

Did abner make a new account, or does he just have a twin?

Judging from the old avatar and now the new username… hmmm… you may be on to something.

I’m sorry v3.0 self destructed.

You sound like abner. Your position isnt held by another person its held by a bank or a broker. Understand that first you arent going against the"newbies"

Always nice to see a troll with a firm understanding of the market

It’s been a wierd week and no mistake - biggest drop in 8 years on EURUSD. I too was looking for a bounce off the low (280ish) which never materialised. It burnt through every support going for several hundred pips. But it was wierd because it the fall was led by sentiment or intervention, but not news. It was too late to be interpreted as a reaction to Trichet’s speech.

But, a mistake’s only a mistake if you ignored information available to you at the time. I didn’t - just didn’t work out for me this time. You’re not alone…

first, you said something about the brokers making the same trade against you…choose a broker that doesn’t do that. I’m with Oanda and love it.

As for last week, I made about 150 pips so I was pretty happy, but I don’t look at support and resistance levels, I’m purely a stoch, rsi, bb, and psar person, so since those all lag a bit behind the market it didn’t allow me to enter bad trades.
