Anyone making a living?

I’m not…not a healthy thing to do…lol

So, will this tallywacker showdown include a brief but concise explanation for the respective predictions? There are many who will no doubt benefit greatly from this sort of trading exhibition.

But your not a newb!!!

As a seasoned veteran I’m sure you’ve seen a couple of these numerical duels in your time. This is one of my first so it is quite exciting.

Monday is a long ways off when the 'ol lungs are gaspin for oxygen.

I just realized that I’m into my 40th post and haven’t said anything worthwhile in any of them!!!:frowning: I promise on my second 50 posts I will try find some real content!

Hey Chubs…nice to meet you too.

Yup they’re kinda like this …or this……and this

I’m far from being able to give any kind of advise at this point. Even after demoing for a year now, going “live” has brought up a couple of issues I didn’t put enought importance on while demoing. So I’m just kinda p-laying low for the time being while I work through them.

Now spelling I can help you with…lol

Well I still consider myself a newb when it comes to trading…lol…is what I meant. This year was my first year on any kind of forum too…but ya you got that right…I’ve seen/heard enough of these duels in my time …not just on forums (and not that 40 something is a long time in the grand scheme of time either  (age I mean…not posts)

Hey, over 800 posts later I haven’t really said anything worthwhile either. I’ve asked a few questions, answered some, and posted up some charts showing what I did…that’s all. Doesn’t mean much except that I play well with others and keep my mildly warped & disfunctional perception (which we all have) of the way things are to myself

Hello everyone, I started with my demo account some time ago, and I would like to know about indicators, Ive read so much about some of them but I really want to save my time and hear you about a good combination of indicators.

in my opinion having the stochastics (for strength of move), the CCI (to see when tops are reached and reversals have bottomed) and the “accumulation/distribution” indicator (for longer term judgement of tops and bottoms which the CCI doesnt show in the same manner)

a couple of MA crossovers (i like the 2EMA and 5SMA to get a trade MOVING) and “barrys support and resistance” (to show WHERE the price is heading) and the SHI_Channel_true" (to show historical support, resistance and trend)

there are additional refinements but with those, you are in complete control of whats happening and SEE exactly what your price is doing during its oftimes crazy meanderings all over the chart !

enjoy and trade well

i adore your choice of avitars which are so telling of human psychology —

funny part of my life is that where an adverse relationship may have originated, it usually ends in a positive light — for one, that was my relationship with TRO, and has become one of numerous chats about this and that !

ahhhhh – the aggressive nature of testosterone which often becomes completely replaced in this “ying/yang” world !

down the road lies mystery, suspense and a wee pot o gold !

may we all find the fun in the trip !

Hey thanks again, that is really good information, I didnt have idea how to make a good combination of indicators and I would like to have control of it in order to develop my own strategy and good analysis. I will try your recommendations. Thanks again.

I really want to thank you because your words made me think about my abilities. Im not a very secure person, but Im Im an intelligent one, and I can do it! As you say, I will study, I will learn and someday I will laugh at some things I dont know or understand yet. Thank you again. 

Simple question: Anyone make a living? But no one directly answered this question. I guess the question maybe too vague.

The reason newbies like me would like to know is because we want to assess if it makes sense to change our career path. For example, if you were accountant making $50K a year, you definitely want to know how much a dentist makes before you decide to go to med school.

I’m a sr. finance mgr in $2 billion public traded company. I’m currently making $100K per year. I want to have a freedom to travel all over the world and answer to my own time. That’s the reasons I’m exploring this new field.

Let me make it simplier. please help me to answer the following quesitons so newbies or potential new newbies make decision if this is the right path:

  1. Are you currently trading FX?
  2. Full time/part time?
  3. Years of experience?
  4. Initial Capital?
  5. Percentage earning of FX annually?

Thank you,

Shawn

It would be great to have a poll over here, to see what percentage of people in this forum, make a living off forex, how many lose, and how many are still learning or in demo. It would be interesting.

I know that most people who make a living with this, don’t want to answer, so you can make the poll anonymous.

I dont believe you will find many “pros” revealing income and those statistics you wish over the internet, what with privacy and such, but if you wish to PM me, i can get you into the ballpark anyway ---- you shall have to find your seat though !

enjoy and trade well

Making your living through trading is not easy for a person not having proper knowledge and experience of this market. Few people are there in the market that are making their living and taking forex trading as their main business. I had been trading this market since 2004 but could not make it as living because the profit percentage cannot say how much we can make profit in a day and how much we loose. Sometimes we make good profits and the other day we loose double of the profits so the percentage is not decided. You can win in this market if you trade making a monthly target of 20-25% of your invested money it will be easy for you to win this market. Those few people who have made trading as their living trade with targets and do not go for much profit. I used to trade part time for 3-4 hours a day. I trades with many brokers like Oanda, Iforex, Forex Yard and AVAFX. But unable to make it as a living.

if your on a $100k - keep your day job !!! - this is not all what its cracked out to be. There are days when you will be losing money hand over fist time after time. Its a good income supplement l , like a sweet after a meal. But you cant live on sweets alone. Dont do it. Dabble with it for a while and when you get to know the nature of the beast, you probably wont like it. You will have wished you stayed where you are.

That being said I had a +$100,000.00 job myself which I quit in october last year to go fulltime. As far as how much my starting stake was or precentage of gain… My bussiness… I studied for over 2 years though… The problem with that kind of question on this site, is it is for learning… . Once people start making real money they tend to not visit much anymore… Lots start private trading rooms to chat to each other while trading…

Hi Kenneth, sounds like you are doing well! I see that you are living in KW, my favorite place! Maybe we can be neighbors someday! LOL

Congrats on cutting the cord. I am a Noob, but I’m no fool. There’s real money in this and I’ve talked to several people who are doing nothing but trading.

I was down in KW last July, stayed on the Navy base and we had a great time. I try to get down there every year when my job cuts me loose.

Now that’s the life… trade forex for awhile in the morning, then putter about in KW the rest of the day… I could go for that.

Kind Regards, ken
