Anyone trade at night?

Who here has ever traded at night for an extended period of time? It’s basically turning your biological clock upside down and I’m wondering how people handled it.

Did it have any negative impact on your personal life? On your health?

For instance, if you live on the east coast and want to trade the euro you’d have to be up at 2am to prepare and then trade from 3am until probably noon or so. Then you’d have the afternoons free, but that’s when everyone is at work. You wouldn’t be able to do any early evening “after-work” type activities because you’d probably need to be in bed by 6pm to get your 8 hrs in. Sounds like a lonely lifestyle…

You have to try it by yourself, there is no direct answer to that.

Well i think it depends upon your system and trading system. Some people place pending orders above high and below the low but some systems like short MA crossover systems need u to keep an eye on the chart so you might not have a sound sleep it all depends upon the way you trade.

IMO, any serious intraday trader would be trading at the times you specified. Longer-term traders would not necessarily need to be trading those hours. I don’t see how it would have any impact on your health as long as your are still getting enough sleep. As far as personal life…it may or may not have a negative effect.

I trade at night but that’s mostly because of the time zone I live in. I usually try not to stay awake too long and if I find the right setup, I simply place pending orders and switch off.

First of all, if you can trade in the middle of day why you need to trade in the middle of night and worry about things like sleep and turning your biological clock upside down? Do you think you will turn your biological clock upside down and you will make success, I doubt about that.

I tried ages ago to trade like this constantly with forex… then market starts messing with your head and loosing trades becomes natural thing lol. You need sleep and be efficient.

I wake up at 3 to 4 (west coast) and catch the last few hours of Europe and the US overlap. Now and then I’ll wake up at 1 or 2, but that’s rare. I guess that could be considered night to some people. Haha all depends on what works for ya.

I trade at night as a part time trader. However, I give maximum 3-4 hours for forex trading. There is a proper balance between my trading life and personal life so I did not face any problem so far.

it can be a lonely lifestyle for a few years…

trading for an extended period of time can take a heavy toll on your health. your sleep cycle gets messed up, your alertness may dwindle… to put it succinctly, you will not be trading at your normal peak performance. You can get used to it, but more or less some thing suffers.
If you have the chance, move to another country where you would be able to trade the session you want at its normal time…

Many Thanks for your advice guys, more replies are most welcome.

I often trade at night… althoguh it realyl depends on which time zone you’re at.
