Are MT4 Demo Accounts in real time?

hi pros,
I’d started trading with the Mt4 platform and have a good system, and I want to know: is the metaquotes demo server with realtime charts or is there a delay?
is there a problem with trading on the demo accounts?
i’d read a lot of posts they searching for a good broker for a demo account…
is the metaquotes demo server serious?

Yes, MT4 demo accounts are real time, with no delays. I trade live with Oanda while doing all my charting on an MT4 demo. I’ve never had any problems.

Ac-markets just released their MT4 platform, has anyone try it? I read a lot a bout that platform in the forum but nobody uses my broker.
Is it the same platform with all brokers??
Thanks!

Mt4 is a good platform you can program your indicators oder eas at your own, and a lot of brokers use it. but not all.
it’s like a lot of people is using windows, but others use mac or linux
there are several trading strategys with special indicators you can use only with mt4, not with other software.

i think it’s a good combination if your broker hasn’t mt4 so you can use the demo like phil838

Yeah, MT4 is the same no matter who your broker is. There’s no need to talk to other people using MT4 on your specific broker, it will be 99% the same as everyones else’s MT4.

The only differences will be the small broker specific things like time zone, 4 or 5 decimals, different spreads, etc…

So the rates, the time zone, the fifth decimal (my broker has it) and the spreads will be the same as if I was trading on my regular advanced trader platform, is that what you mean?

And the fact that this MT4 platform is a software provided by a third party, it means the brokers have to pay a fee for it?
I ask because my broker owns the software for their regular platforms and I know they are the only who does, so I dont know how it works when they have to buy a new one.

Thanks so much for replying

Correct, except the rate quotes on a live and demo account may be off by a few pips (less than 5). This is normal and nothing to worry about. Since forex is OTC no two brokers or data feeds will ever be 100% the same, but they should be extremely close…

And yes, brokers do pay MetaQuotes Software for the rights to use MT4.
