I am running into some problems back testing.
First, I tried back testing my first strategy (the same MA crossover strategy using the NinjaTrader platform, but couldn’t get historical data below the daily level. I ended up opening a demo account and using the Forex.com ForexTraderPro platform to test that strategy on the four hour chart. The results were fairly inconclusive with only 18 trades over the last year.
Now I am wanting to test a strategy based on the Gartley pattern. In my last thread, @FOREX.com recommended using MetaTrader platform so I could get lower time frame historical data, but I don’t see a Fibbonacci extension tool, and I am having a hard time drawing Gartley patterns without the extension tool. I also don’t see an easy way to clear all objects off my chart. I also can’t seem to draw basic line segments… all the line tools draw lines that continue on forever.
I can’t believe that a trading platform would be this difficult to use, so I am thinking it’s user error. I am not automating my back tests or trading, so I just need basic charting tools to test this. Am I missing something, or is MT really that bad at charting and drawing?
