Ok guys I need your help. I have a project in a big city that is in a five story builidng and it is impossible for me to bring my laptop everywhere I go so I went out and bought a new blackberry storm (touchscreen).
My question is which broker has the best mobil platform (for blackberry) and why are they the best?
ok so i found only one platform so far that will do realtime charts for blackberry. Does anybody use VTtrader? Is ti a decent platform. I haven’t had time to look at it. how about CMS for a broker?
Thanks for taking one for the team! I’ve got an iphone but still haven’t messed with the platform. I’m not an apple guy at all but the iphone has changed the way I’ve used phones forever. And I’ve had a bunch of “smart” phones in the past.
I got the mobile client for GFT on Blackberry and its terrible. I dunno… I really hope that iPhones come to more than just Rogers in Canada… Blackberrys are definitely a step behind in ease of use… iPhones are dummy proof and you can get a lot more useful things for them.
Just even navigating websites on a blackberry are painful. iPhone is seamless 9 times out of 10.
for all intensive purposes the phone is great. it has a million really cool features and absolutly breathtaking media stuff. but no mobile platoform except cms and there vtrader mobil. its better than nothing but not much.
i think maybe i will get one of those netbooks (7" screen deals) and tether the blackberry storm to that for internet, or get another aircard.
or i can return the blackberry
or i can… who knows???
John, how fast does it run? Is it workable trading?
I’m tied to a windows mobile until I can see any escape route!
to be honest this set up is way to slow to trade. Its alot of fun to spy on my wife LOL!!! and when I change the desktop she thinks there is a ghost hehehehe. but really it has a couple second delay. the best option is going to be to use my phone as a modem for my laptop (which I was using all along but with an air card)
or plan be is going to be Kens idea and get a net book wich is a mini laptop with a 6cell battery for 8 hours battery life.
ill tell you what years ago i had an ipaq and it ran windows mobile and i had mt4 i liked it but the only drawback was the battery would die in 2 hours coz of the processor.
Based on this stuff, I downloaded the Terminal Services Client version they have for my blackberry. Since I connect RDP to my VPS for trading it seems like it would work ok.
To be honest, I am not sure its something that I would really want to trade with constantly, as it is very small and slow. I do not blame it on the program, but the RDP protocol is too heavy for phones. I doubt I will extend the trial to a full license, but that may change if I decide I cannot live without it. I do see utility like “the world is on fire” but one of my gnomes is looking at the prices too much anyway…So this would just feed it.
Thanks John, husky - shame, I had high hopes for that. My solution for on the move is currently a win mo (touch diamond) with mt4 for charts, and a separate broker program to enter trades.
MT4 works great, and the touch diamond is brilliant at most things (internet, music, photos etc) except for making and answering calls which is what I bought a phone for in the first place… !
I do know that FX Solutions has a platform that is download to your blackberry to trade forex. I have never used it but very curious on speed and charts. You can always sign up for a demo account and give it a try. Hope this helps.
Nice-ish John. MT4 does work perfectly (so long as you delete the auto-update.exe) and it does tons of flash things. But you’ll need an extended battery, a cover for the phone (scratches within seconds) and patience of a saint to reflash it with half-decent firmware. Plus half a dozen major annoyances.
i remeber my ipaq and how the battery life sucked i had to always keep it plugged in. but hey at least the grass is a little greener. for the ipaq i used to have to disconnect from the internet (data) when i wasnt using it so as to extend the battery life a little.
