I am curious as to what the general rule for looking at chart is when it comes to either looking at the eur/usd bid chart or eur/usd ask chart? I was told always stick with one (Bid), but wouldn’t it make sense to have charts setup for both so you can accurately watch depending on whether you are going long or short? Thanks in advance.
If you are using MT4, you can watch both.
right click the chart, go to properties, and then click the “common” tab.
Then check the box with “ask” and apply.
Are there any “rules” that the general forex community goes with or is it all a personal preference type thing? I am using Accucharts.
Not really, it all depends on the platform.
My live account broker’s charts go according to the “last”, whether it was a buy or sell. But that’s because they are straight commission instead of a spread.
A little more accurate I think, but no real advantages.
The charts on MT4 are never strikingly different. A pip or two variation at the most.
The FX markets are so tight nowadays (especially on the major crosses) that I’d be surprised if it made any difference as long as you are consistent…
