Brazil rejects aid but admits they don't have enough resources to stop Amazon fire?

The situation over at Brazil is also pretty frustrating. :frowning: The planet’s burning up, and losing the Amazon would greatly cost us. :frowning: It’s great to see a lot of billionaires, celebrities showing their support and giving financial aid, but I fear nothing would really happen if Brazil rejects all the help. :frowning:

Oh my god, why doesn’t Brazil accept help!???

I don’t think they want help from outside countries, they must have some underlying reason

I chat with some Brazilian friends and apparently they don’t have any reason rather than pettiness.

They didnt reject the money. They want the money but they want to spend it on other things than to fight fires.

Its like giving a homeless person money so he can buy food but he spends it on booze instead.

Does every country has their own Donald Trump nowadays?

Only the dumb countries

Its getting really hard not to be in a “Dumb Country”

And your point is ? What should they do with all that case ? I mean it’s not that good anyway, correct. I do see it’s somewhat bad already and there were tensions with that and Macron. But you really know what about that much ? How do you see that ?

They could stop laying fires in forrests… . … … …?

Ouch! Huhuhu. I think our country’s struggling with the administration too. :frowning:

“You destroy our lands, poison the planet and sow death, because you are lost. And soon it will be too late to change.”

Ugh. Really is scary to think about what happens when we lose the Amazon to these fires. :confounded:

I’ve been trying to look for any updates about whether the fires have been stopped but the last update I saw was this. :open_mouth: Do you guys have any news about it? :open_mouth:

Welp, we gave up on Space, we have no plan B, we still have people denying climate change.

We are done-zo.

I did see an interesting take on this. Basically that Brazil doesn’t get any benefit from keeping the Amazon/not using it for agriculture. The world gets to reap the benefits but they don’t get anything. Does that make sense? I mean it doesn’t give them the license to do that obviously but just gives you perspective.

I don’t know what to feel about that. :confounded: I still think it’s one of the world’s last remaining natural treasures, and it’s home to a number of tribes and endangered animals! :frowning: Isn’t that enough? :frowning: Hay. All because they wanna make money out of it.

Well… If your people are suffering, which would be your higher, more immediate priority? Finding ways for people to alleviate poverty or saving the forest? Surely there are ways of dealing with that without nature getting decimated but perhaps they are desperate. Definitely not saying it’s right but it does give perspective on the “fairness” aspect of it. Like perhaps other countries should also be paying them something… like a “common area” fee :joy:

Yeah I get what you’re trying to say too. Haha. The world benefits from the Amazon, and I think it wouldn’t be too much to ask if the countries come together to help preserve it. :open_mouth: Haha. BUT personally, I don’t think they wanna get rid of the rainforest to help alleviate poverty of their people though.

That too…
