Breaking ascending or descending channels

Hi, I seem to see this a lot but I just skip on the analysis on a pair because im quite unsure what to do in the situation but my question is as follows

If an ascending channel breaks to the upside it means that the trend has accelerated… So the market creates a new steeper channel but when this second channel breaks is the first channel still valid as part of that trend or would that indicate the end of that up trend?

That depends on how far the initial breakout went. If the second channel is contained within the first channel, then yes, I see no reason why you should delete it. If price moves away from the initial channel, then maybe it could provide resistance just like old horizontal zones do. Emphasis on ‘could’.
