Can leverage be a good thing?

Hello.

Thanks for the kind words. And as I said: no worries at all.

By the way (and I’d better mention this before I make things bad AGAIN for myself): this was WAY before I had anything to do with Deltastock officially i.e. I had my own ‘investment business’ at the time (there’s a laugh)!!! LOL!!! The sad part: all this happened because in SPITE of no risk or money management, thinking I knew better than anyone else, using ‘ultra leverage’, I went through a six month winning streak. I just couldn’t lose. That’s why my clients entrusted me with their money. I had the reports to prove my success. And then, one day, it all came ‘crashing down’. And THAT, my good friend(s), is why I constantly ‘bang on’ about risk and money management and leverage. In this business: you may get away with breaking the rules once, twice, three times, for a month, in my case six months, but THE TIME WILL COME when you’ll be taught a HARD lesson and the reason why there are no shortcuts in this business. Some of us just have to learn a HARDER way than most!!!

Regards,

Dale.

Yeah, like somebody on this forum once said: ‘Money Management is the Holy Grail’.
I think it’s even the name of the thread.

Preserving capital is The Number One Rule in any investment business, of course, not only in forex trading.

Dale, maybe have a look at eremarket’s thread called Jay’s unofficial BabyPips Book Club.
Download the first book to be discussed and read the intro and the first interview … I think you’ll like it.
Sweet Pip’s post containing the dl link is here.

Cheers,
O.

Do you KNOW how many people have told me to read this darn book!!! LOL!!! Alright: I’ve downloaded it!!! Thanks!!!

I must say though: at first I thought there was something wrong with the download i.e. it’s TINY and yet it appears to be the complete book. I’d love to know how they did that.

Thanks again though. You’ve probably made more than a few other members happy (well I can think of ONE that’s been ‘banging on’ about my reading the darn thing)!!! LOL!!!

Regards,

Dale.

Hehe, ok.

I hadn’t realized the file being especially small; well, it’s PDF, they are all small. And it doesn’t contain graphics, afaik, which makes a difference, even with PDFs.

O.

dpaterso or anyone who wishes to know me a little better can check out Kreslik where I am known as MightyOne.

Read these threads:

Space Wars (page 2 after a search)

Ideas That I trade by

One Is Not a Trend (new way of looking at a chart)

Many of the traders there are well versed in my methods (I’ve been posting for 3 years) and will answer any question
that pops in your head.

I hope the mod doesn’t go ape for saying hey go to this site…

I will try and post the same info on BP when I have more time.

Is there any broker that allows 500:1 leverage on ANY CAPITAL ? cause from what I’ve seen, the maximum leverage offered is getting lower as your CAPITAL grows.
Thanks!

Didn’t you and I have one SPECTACULAR ‘blowout’ some years ago??? NOT that it matters anymore. ‘Water under the bridge’. We were BOTH ‘out of line’ I think (if I’m ‘speaking’ with the right person that is). Anyway: no problems my side either way. We all get ‘heated’ at times.

Me: I’m ‘good’ with what I’m doing. But, as will always be the case with any of this stuff, my stuff will not be everybody’s ‘cup of tea’ so, if you can help others with methods that suit them better and ensure that they’re profitable then ‘good on you’. Nobody has the right to judge nor get involved UNLESS there is any type of ‘foul play’ suspected.

Regards,

Dale.

Yep, the whole idea of a public forum is exchanging views, right?

Naturally, hundreds or thousands of different people will have many different ways to think about any given issue.
Which is exactly what makes a forum such as this one interesting.
If we all felt and thought exactly the same (now there’s a really scary thought!), forums would not only be totally boring but also absolutely superfluous and useless.

It just boils down to how people treat each other if and when their views differ.
And if things get out of hand, it keeps the Mods from getting bored … <— Banhammer in Action
