I’m looking for a Canadian freindly micro account broker. I have learned all I know on the FXCM micro platform, however I have recently been told by them that they do not accept Canadians from British Columbia…
I have tried the Questrade trial account and I’m longing for something more similar to the FXCM platform… I find Questrade kind of cumbersome…
Anyway, just looking for advice into a Canadian micro account broker, preferrably something very similar to FXCM…
Also, any broker advice at all would be very much appreciated…
Questrade is the only one I know that offers micro accounts to BC. They just do not advertise it , you just have to call them and request it. I have looked at some other sites they offer micros and they do not really look trustworthy. I am not a big fan of Questrade but it is a licensed and regulated.
Yeah, from what I gather Questrade has micro accounts that can be set up easily directly from their website. They have excellent funding options and their main site is excellent. I just find their platform EXTREMELLY slow and navigating it is really a pain. I spent 3 hours trying to get aquainted with it tonight and I’m soooo frustrated with it…It is almost impossible to scalp using it… When using FXCM micro you can actually watch the candlesticks move… On Questrade they just sit there until the next minute when they then show a move…when it’s too late to enter a position and take advantage of an upward trend…
I know what you mean, Questrade has pretty crappy charting. I actually use an mt4 broker for charting and place my trades on Questrade. Although I do not do much scalping so I know it would prolly be difficult to keep switching.
I chatted with Questrade today with their online help and I have to say they have excellent customer support. They only had standad trial accounts but they took the time to set me up with a custom mini account so I can practice trade with 10K lots… perfect.
I do have a few beefs with their platform…possibly just unfamiliarity on my part…
I have yet to find a way to create a limit order and a stop order on a currency pair… seems you can only do one or the other… maybe I just need to get aquainted with the option…
When placing multiple orders on the same currency pair it only shows you overall profit and loss rather than p/l for each order… kind of a pain doing the math…
You also cannot do a partial stop or limit order on a currency pair… it’s sell all or nothing…
OK, when you click on “Order” then Enter order appears and a box shows up.
At the top of the box it should say order type and then you can select “One cancels others”.
When you have say 2 lots open and want to close position. All you do is click on buy whatever pair. So say you had 2 lots short on EUR/USD and want to close 1 position, all you do is click “buy” 1 lot EUR/USD and it closes half. And your left with 1 lot.
I should reiterrate that I am in no way scumming Questrade at all…great customer service, great funding options, etc…etc… I just find the platform layout a little weird:D I’m sure all the features are there…jut have to find them
