Can't get smiley face

I downloaded an installed an EA file *.ex4. It won’t give the smiley face in the upper right hand corner that should indicate the EA is active. What am I doing wrong?

Did you push the “expert advisors” button in the top toolbox?

Yes. When I push this button I get an X in the upper right hand corner. When I push it again I ga\et the frowning face,

Press F7. Click on Common tab. Is live trading allowed checked?
