Carry on or quit!?

I am real bad with numbers, can I still be a forex trader? If yes, then please guide me as to how do I go about it. I have been working on a demo account but I find everything so confusing, should I continue?

You don’t need to be good with numbers to be profitable trader.

You need to understand percentages so that you can define your risk as a percentage of your capital. You need to understand how decimals work so that you know what a pip is in a forex pair’s price. And you need to be able to add and subtract, but your calculator will do that for you.

A simple objective trend-following strategy is more useful than a brain like a computer.

I’m also bad with numbers. Like quick mental addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division confuses me. Luckily we can use calculators for that. But what exactly are you confused with so that we can better help you?

Also, you can jot down your trades in a spreadsheet so that you can see the values clearly. You may also start a trade journal so that you can analyze your trades.

I don’t know what you mean by bad with numbers. But, maths reign this trading world.

Yes, in fact in Wall Street, they are throwing the computers, firing mathemeticians and moving their entire trading business to the tommor’s “simple objective trend-following strategy”.

Have you given the education section ago

What EXACTLY is confusing for you?
Bro, I’m definitely bad at numbers. I have trouble adding in my head. I’m learning and still going.

So, what’s difficult for you exactly?

Demo is not just for random trading. Demo is to practice what you have learned. Learn candlestick first. Then learn about technical analysis and trading psychology. Then practice what you have learned.

Finally! That’s what I like to hear.

Helloooo! I definitely agree with most of the replies to the thread. I’m personally not good with numbers either. Math has always been the subject that gave me nightmares’! :sweat_smile : BUT to be honest, I think there isn’t anything about forex that you can’t find help about online. Calculators and other tools are available so there’s still hope!

You just need to keep on going and trying. Good or bad with Math, eventually you will get it.

You don’t really need to be a genius in math if you want to trade forex. The general understanding of it would be enough for you to learn technical analysis. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine!

Since you’ve already started with demos, I think you should continue learning on them. Nothing beats the practical experience and they will also give you a look into how forex works. Better to practice on them than risk your money on real accounts without any experience.

I suppose the calculators I see here will be of great help!

I have kind of just started, and find the charts very overwhelming. All those lines scare me

I picture trading to be a very number crunching game, and math has been the least fav subject throughout my school-life, so asking

If you are an absolute beginner, I suggest you read about forex first. Gather all the relevant information and then proceed with demos. Otherwise you’ll be quite lost with how things work here. I took this course on the platform and it really helped me. Check it out: Learn Forex Trading at School of Pipsology - BabyPips.com

I was also overwhelmed at first but the only way to get past that is to keep trading.
