Chart Patterns (help needed)

Hi guys, im in chart pattern section in babypips school now, do i need to learn them or its enough just to know the basics, are you full time traders using them? Thank You

Learn the entire baby pips school PERIOD. if you don’t have the drive to do that or are skimping out now, just quit. You don’t have the dedication or drive to make it in this business if you cant read a single website tutorial.

Cool beans MeiHua, thought chart patterns are like indicators that some ppl say doesnt work. Thanks for advice!

U have to keep practising to train urself to spot chart patterns. Hns, dt, db, rising wedge etc. babypips provides lots of interesting info on that. In addition, chart patterns are not lagging indicators, therefore i personally tink that they are accurate. U can look back on the historical charts to try spot the patterns. Its really helpful!

Thank You very much, i can see now that its important to learn them

The problem with using chart patterns is ‘false’ breakouts, a price will break out somewhat from the pattern only to change course and go the other way, so as with most things, it’s just part of the puzzle, you have to be able to read the chart to asses the likelihood of a move or what will turn out to be a reversal.

Agree wif purplepatch. Reversal chart pattern might have fakeouts. The safer way is wait for a retracement. This will test ur physcology n also patience…

I personally don’t trade chart patterns directly, but look for them on lower timeframes as a reinforcement of a trading opportunity I have seen on a higher TF. They lend extra weight to my reasoning to enter a trade. I am a PA/S&R etc. trader, and for me that approach is all about finding a confluence of factors and trading it. So I consider chart patterns essential to my approach, although I would never just trade them in isolation, as PPF says, for the reasons already outlined in the other responses.
