Counting Pips In JPY Pairs

Hey everyone, I would love if someone could calculate the number of pips collected in these trades and also explain how they calculated it.

Would help me a lot.

Thank you :slight_smile:

CADJPY SELL 85.960* -> 84.499* =
CADJPY SELL 85.960*-> 84.199* =
CADJPY SELL 85.960*-> 83.659* =

Go to the BabyPips School; there you’ll get everything on this issue even, with the details.

Trade #1: Enter short @ 85.960, exit @ 84.499 = 146.1 pips gained.

Trade #2: Enter short @ 85.960, exit @ 84.199 = 176.1 pips gained.

Trade #3: Enter short @ 85.960, exit @ 83.659 = 230.1 pips gained.

Edited to correct the figures shown above, and to remove incorrect information which previously followed those figures. — Scroll down to post #11 for clarification.

Thank you mate!!

According to the what is a pip link you posted above Clint’s example is wrong ?

On 4 or 5 decimal quotes the 4th number from the decimal point is 1 pip and the 5th is 0.1 pip

And on 2 or 3 decimals like jpy the second number to the right of the decimal point is a pip and the 3rd is 0.1 pip

Always welcome, mate! Keep learning, have a great weekend.

Now I’m confused lol

AlienTrader is correct. Carefully study the answer he has given you.

I screwed up the answer I gave you previously. – I have edited my previous post to correct the numbers.

Wasn’t trying to discredit in any way you have alot of knowledge in this field and im 100% sure you now how to work out a pip. just noticed the discrepancy. I suppose even the best of us make mistakes sometimes.

Good that you also checked @A1lenTrader I didn’t even do that. I just thought the school link might help lol.

Kudos also to @Clint as always for being quick to answer and also quick to correct. Much respect.
