Data needed to develop trading strategy

Hey everyone, I am new to forex trading and new to this site. I opened a demo account a few weeks ago, went through all the lessons on this site, and read a little about some additional technical indicators. I am looking to develop a trading strategy and I was thinking that an interesting way to do so would be to use historical data to run a regression analysis (like in basic stats and econometrics courses) and find which indicator(s) best correlates to the data. I was wondering, is there any place where I can download historical price or indicator data in a format that I would be able to use? I guess if I could get it into an Excel spreadsheet then I could export it to statistical software. If someone knows of some way to do this please let me know. Thanks!

Do a google search for “alpari history center” and you’ll find what you need.

Hello eroth,

welcome to forex trading. You have started in a very accurate way with a demo account. Are you trading offline or online. I mean to say are you trading with some broker or deciding for taking a online platform at home. Before starting with real money do inquire about the broker. Make your own trading strategies learn more about trading and market movements.

I would like to say that work out on the daily volumes on which you want to trade like currencies, shares or commodities. Use pivot points for daily targets resistance support, take help of stop loss to cut off your losses. For trading in this market your patience and knowledge is most important.

In this keep on updating your market and trading knowledge. The more you learn your trading skills will be more sharp. I would tell you this much now on the basis which i am trading. Friend one more thing make your own portfolio and trade don’t go for all the shares, commodities or currencies. Which ever currency you understand is better add in your portfolio and trade. this will help you to manage your investment.

Thanks

Happy trading.
