Day trading vs long term.Day trading, enough movement?

Hello,in most respected books on stock trading they all seem to strongly advise on avoing day trading stocks as there is not enough movement,& you have to hit home runs everytime.
Does the same apply to forex?I heard that forex is tricky because it has too much volatility. Is day trading forex more risky.
Also seing as banks have traders that take over the trading in various parts of the world, whilst others are sleeping during the 24hrs is it right to say that its best to either day trade or trade very long term?

Thanks for any help.

In my 2 years in forex, i tried all the timeframes, and the only ones that are givong consist profits are the bigger time frames: daily, 4H and 1H (only i use this for better entries).

I’m on the extreme opposite, hardly ever in a trade for more than 30 seconds!

Not recomendable for a newbie.

I trade on the longer term charts because of how my time is split up these days. I’m in school and work part time so I can’t watch charts all the time as much as I try. Work is retail so I’m not even in front of a computer.

Thus, I’ve been trading daily, 4H and hourly charts (hourly mainly for timing an entry).

Absolutely Not! I think what I trade is ideal for the newbie, very easy to learn, and very profitable.

Daily and 4 hour charts here. Mainly because I don’t have the opportunity to day trade due to the 9-5.

But if that were to change I’d stick with swing trading - I like more pips for less time spent trading.
