Deutsche Bank raided in Franfurt Germany

What do you make of this? Made in response to Panama Papers.

“Police walks in front of Deutsche Bank headquarters as roughly 170 criminal police officers, prosecutors and tax inspectors searched Deutsche Bank offices in and around Frankfurt, Germany”

That’s not a small raid…

The downfall of Deutsche Bank has been fascinating to observe.

Interesting article if you have the time. Not sure about it’s accuracy, but looking to the past often provides some insight into why we are where we are today.

I’ll find the time. I am curious how all this happened.
Deutsche Bank used to have such a good reputation, now everyone associate it without various shady deals. How the mighty have fallen.

8 separate article in the series. Interesting read.

Oh ouch, a big hit for the reputation of Deutsche Bank. This Panama Papers case is getting more and more twisted. But, honestly I’m not surprised that most of the major banks are or will be involved in such corrupted schemes. Everyone are trying to avoid taxes.

Their reputation has been going down the drain for a while, sadly. And it just gets worse.

A bit from the DB CFO on how the current board and execs weren’t/aren’t involved, although some of the naughtiness is claimed to have happened in 2018.

@mlawson71 I don’t think that it’s a sad situation, honestly. If they are corrupt, they should be exposed. All of them, one by one…

My disappointment makes me sad, but you are right, the situation itself is not sad.

@mlawson71 don’t be disappointed, I’m sure it’s for the best. After all, these corrupt banks and institutions need to be busted sooner or later. They can’t hide forever and think that they can get away with it.

You’re absolutely right about that. I just hope that being exposed will lead to a positive change, rather than them just laying low for a while until the media storm dies down and then continuing as before.

I don’t think we’ve heard the last of the media storming about them and their relationship with a certain someone and that someone’s family.

But I hope for the same.

Usually once such a scandal begins new details beging trickling out over the course of the next few months, even years, true.

@mlawson71 Positive change should come once all of them are exposed like this and people demand new rules for the system. Then the world will see the hypocrisy and lack of effectiveness of these institutions and they should be replaced with better alternatives. At least, I see it this way.

Me too. I just hope people really will demand new rules so this doesn’t happen again. I am just a little sceptical because many people, unfortunately, don’t care enough for that and go with the flow. :frowning:

I think banks have to take strict actions against the people who do not follow the rules and regulations. Bankruptcy is becoming abundant due to loosen actions against the people who are involved in it. Banks need to make strict legislation in this regard. Do you support my voice?

Banks are not the ones making up the rules, regulations and legislations, the state legislative body usually does that (whatever that legislating body may be in a given jurisdiction), and the state is supposed to enforce them, the banks are supposed to follow them.

Pretty stark piece by Deutsche Welle on the state of Deutsche Bank. Some glimmers of hope that the bank can be saved. But definitely more doom and gloom than roses and rainbows. 2019 will be, as the article reads, a turning point for the bank, good or bad.

Q4 results come out in early Feb. Let’s see where it stands.

The merger talks are intensifying. I imagine these have been happening for some time now.

And the German gov’t would back the deal.
