Easy 5 minute Trading

Starchn, to answer your question, it should be alright if you were to set it up an hour or two early. Just look at the candle, if it has a long enough whick on the one you’re waiting to close, it should be OK. I set my trades up 3 hours after the new candle has opened, why? Because that’s the earliest time I can sit down and trade, not because it’s better to wait. If I could, I would do it right at candle open.

Yes, the SL is pretty huge, that’s why you risk based on a percent of your balance. Typically I wager 5% of my account balance on any given trade. If you need help calculating lot size based on % balance just ask, I’d be more than happy to go over it with you.

I’m from…Windsor, Ontario Canada.
How about you?

Right on, my baby sister lives in Brisbane. Are you heading to the Black Sabbath concert in April? I’m soo jealous of her atm lol.

Hi,

Hmm, dunno why, but I get the feeling that there are many peeps from Austrailia here :).

I’m from Sweden btw, A town called Lund

Hey, I’m getting a big issue with both WW25 and WW27a in terms of stop losses. I tried both of them in shorter time frames (4H and 1H), and noticed that they are usually working fine, but sometimes placing really weird SL levels (like 200-400 pips away instead of 20-40). I have now noticed this with the 24H charts as well, which means that you can occasionally get 400pip losses or more.

Here’s a URL to my demo account, with some of the weird SL levels shown:
myfxbook.com/members/greensky/mt4-63542/447922/1XOHfM0XLcEbbbS03t2F

The weird SL levels are in history, marked with blue.

Now, I thought it was to do with magic numbers, but I placed a random magic number for each of my charts and EA instances, and this issue is happening. Any idea what’s going on?

Hah ! Yeah, funny number showing but, note that three of the four you have marked closed in profit and the fourth closed with a 77 pip loss. There is nothing functional, on my quick look, that appears out of the ordinary so that suggests the EA maybe just puts in an erroneous figure AFTER the trade is closed, so yes, they are literally history. Jim would have to answer the question for it being such a wild number.

Yeah, but I noticed those on live trading as well. Heck, I have one on my current account that has a S/L of 74.4 on a EURJPY pair (currently trading at 117), with the trade losing 5% of account value on a trade with 2% risk maximum set in EA. Here’s the URL with current open trades (for some reason 74.4 as a S/L is very popular):

myfxbook.com/members/greensky/mt4-27450/460251/KsOdRVzj1ay1dzaEheYK

Ignore the previous history, since I was trying out some other strategies beforehand. Now, it seems as though one instance is affecting the other ones, but I placed random magic numbers for each chart, and the weird S/L is the same across many charts. It affects a relatively small number of trades, but has a huge potential effect on negating profits, and is clearly occurring on current trades as well…

Just found the same on my Pepperstone demo, EJ has a long bought price of 119.815 and a SL of 114.764.

Help James ! Something appears wrong here. It is the same across all demos on 27a . My 24 and 25 I can’t look at right now. Can you confirm ? Are you running it ?

hey guys i think you found the problem sounds like the issue im having.

Yikes, I’m going to have to check my accts out when I get home. Probably just a minor error in the code that jbentz can quickly fix for us. Or it could be a way jbentz coded the EA to hide the true SL from the broker. Either or hopefully he gets back to us soon.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Woah, just checked out my fxjunction account A, which is running 27a.
There is an open CHFJPY has a stop loss set at 1.60, when the entry was at 97.47. (9587 pips)
Also, I have an open GBPUSD with a stop loss at 118.3200 when the entry was at 1.6063. (116 7137 pips)
Uhm, I don’t know about you, but 9587 and over 100,000 pip stop loss is sort of steep lol.

Yup, and from history, it looks like your biggest loss (AUDUSD for -146 pips) was due to a faulty S/L as well.

This also means that, if these S/Les are increasing losses, then this system might be even more profitable once fixed than it is currently showing.

Interesting indeed. You make a good point there Greensky. We’ll find the answer as soon as Jbentz gets back to us with what’s going on with the EA.
As of today the EA is up 12%, while my manual trading is up 10%. Again, I am trading more pairs on the EA than I am manually so that could account for the slight difference. Looks like EURUSD is clawing it’s way back up after it dropped there. I’m still in the initial surge from last week, up 252 pips as of right now.

Unfortunately I will be going on vacation next week so I won’t be able to put in my manual trades, but I’ll leave the EA up and running. It’s too bad too because the EURUSD will be fluctuating back and forth and it’ll be vital to set the new stop loss as higher levels are reached. Ohwell, we can still see the outcome of this move.

Cheers

I think that AUDUSD trade was with v25 of the EA before I switched it over to V27. I have it set at 5% risk, and it got stopped out at 5.74% which is darn close, even if the EA input a stop loss at over 138,000 pips. I think the EA is working as it should regardless of the huge stop loss levels but again, jbentz can best answer this.

Also regardibg the SL’s if we are all getting the same SL’s placed in thr same place then the EA should be fine its only if our results are significantly different then we might think something is wrong somewhere as surely if we left the EA running on alot of brokers like a few of us have been then the results should be similar.

Wow, you have a babysitter AND you listen to Sabbath…your life rocks! (although the Sab concert will be w/out originally drummer Bill Ward!).

Hey all, not sure why I stopped getting updates from BabyPips for this stream, so didn’t know you were having StopLoss issues with the Wicks EA. SandyBeach skyped me to let me know.
I notice on my demo’s, the stoploss is fine in the pending trade, I had one open trade and the stop was way out of whack.

I think it’s reading other charts line position for the stoploss and transposing it into the wrong pair. For example, my USDCAD at price around 0.9860 has a stoploss of 1.331 which could have been snagged from a EURUSD chart.

I’ll look into the code to see if it’s cross referencing.

It will help if you notice if all the errors in stoploss only occurred after the trade went live, or have you also seen it on the pending orders.

Thanks.

Hi Jim - Currently (GMT 01:42) I have a pending on GJ., Buy Stop at 144.82 SL at 1.577 TP 0. So looks like you are right, it is referencing something else. This Pepper AU. with 27a.

Re why you are missing posts - if you get a notification and don’t respond, the system will not send you another notification until you log in. That’s most likely cause. It’s not enough to “look” in, you must actually LOG in.
Cheers,
AltosT

Thanks for the tip on getting responses. Will check the EA now.

also the babypips apps on android and IOS are great to quickly view the forums i probably use them more than the website for access, thats if your on the road or working mostly

Hah, actually it’s a baby siSter, not a babysitter  and I live in Canada, she lives in Australia. They’re releasing a new album this year so hopefully they’ll do a N/A tour.

Anyhow, pip on brothers n’ sisters!
