this kind of reminds me ok UK/EU debacle. and has a good hint at the end what to do with boris johnson
let’s hope for a Nexit. the EU is a monster, which is great for the top 0.01% but a disaster for the rest. they want to have our pension funds, 1400 billion. even after we paid billions for the southern and eastern states, not even counting the disaster of “wir schaffen das”. well, let’s go out of the EU, prefer today. are most important trading partners after germany are the UK and USA. so, no need for an euro or EU. the EEG was a very good idea, that’s all what europe needed.
How true, oh, how so true…
a lot of people simply have not been accessing the right information,
or, based on a negative bias, have simply ignored the head and
followed their negative feelings toward the EU…
As an example, publicly available on the internet, I offer this site,
which shows how the EU has invested in Scotland:
If anyone with eyes could read this and still think that
what goes into the EU membership delivers nothing back of any value,
I suggest they should either visit a neurosurgeon or just shut the hell up…
These projects touch all areas of public life, from road infrastructure to
education, from research to technology, from agriculture to fishing, and so on:
how are all of the above areas going to be invested in once that funding cuts out?
What will be saved from EU membership will not magically return into people’s pockets:
there is a plethora of stuff that the government has planned, including big vanity projects
like high-speed rail and continued funding for the nuclear submarine (Trident)… or
splashing out on the QUeen’s birthday party…
So where the EU projects were funds asked by public bodies and delivered specifically
where they made the best impact, government money, which is already been cut for public
life, may not be so forthcoming.
great post PMH! thank you for those information.
heres another one.
EU financing 1.5 billion € to scottland and another 1.5 billion € to england to creat social housing for people (planed for around 70.000 people, the equivalent of 22000 families) who cant afford over prized flats in netropolitan regions. these project planned from 2016 till 2019 is lost aswell by brexit vote.
…all that funding… gone…
PimpMeNappy-time again- 2 in the morning baby woke up?
Hahaha no not this time, Turbo… I was just an idiot and stayed up late preparing invoices for my clients… You? What is keeping you up so late
Yes, EU membership has made some absolutely incredible positive changes that are not actually measurable (at least not directly) in monetary terms. In fact, the beauty of this regulation is not that one can take citizenship, but that it becomes pretty much unnecessary and irrevelant to take it. Nowadays, I usually say that I have three nationalities, of which the most important is “European”. And both the Euro and Schengen were attempts to extend even further this same sense of “Europeanism”.
I have always appreciated the EU characteristic of, on one hand, smoothing out and unifying matters of general interest like trade, finance, employment, social conditions, human rights, travel, security, etc whilst, on the other hand, maintaining and respecting such a vast diversity in individual national identities, cultures and histories. This combination is, in my opinion, what puts Europe, and in particular the EU, at the very top of the list of where to be.
And, yes, I know I am a näive, idealistic pacifist…
Of course, there is much to improve and develop, and events like recent waves of asylum seekers, create new and urgent challenges that need to be addressed and resolved, and that can be, and often is, a painful and frustrating process for all member states.
Great post,
Manxx!!!
aud usd bounced back as i predicted
the aud usd bounced back its not doom and gloom yet today is your resistance as i said monday tuesday wednesday at latest thursday
I think it is still very early days to make any clear conclusions how things are going to develop. It was interesting to hear Europe saying that nothing can be started until Britain has actually formally triggered its exit notice - and, if I understood it right, David Cameron was saying that we will not trigger the exit until the nature of Britain’s future relationship with and within Europe has been clarified.
Seems a lot of back doors have been left ajar and no one yet wants to close them - which is surely a good thing for the time being until there has been sufficient time to digest everything thoroughly.
But one thing that does seem clear to me, as a Brit living in Europe, is that the UK seems to have a much inflated opinion of how much the rest of Europe is actually interested in the UK. Sure, it is a very important nation and EU partner, and deeply respected as such. But the Centerpoint of the EU does not just revolve around England, it is spread far more generally across the European community as a whole. Britain’s departure (if and when it actually happens) is a tremendous blow and set back for the EU, but it is not automatically the end of the line and I am sure the EU will very quickly focus on looking after its own future rather than doing nothing waiting for the whole structure to disintegrate.
In order for all to move on Britain still needs Europe and Europe still needs Britain. It is just a question of what, how and when the revised relationships materialise
Well said!!
Very well said, everyone. On top of all that, I just want add one more thing, British workers only started to have their holiday pay when the UK join the EU.
Could you elaborate more on the holiday payment? Does it affect the economy?
Either way, it seems that Britons are regretting their decision and me might have a second EU Referendum
Also, funny thing, Trump was backing Brexit and now it backfired.
hi jessica, the link doesnt work with me. can you post it directly? im really interested in trumps actions lately
im always up late. its arare exception i go to sleep before 03:00
A more correct title for this thread would be Farewell EU
Look at this 9 year track record for the EURUSD, and this was during a time the US Fed was doing everything in their power to devalue the US dollar and the Euro still lost 5000+ pips to the dollar. why would any sane nation want to be part of this.
I have spent the last several days reading all the arguments for and against leaving. And I must say the Leave argument has won me over, while the stay argument has been a total put off. Also living just a few miles from the worse shooting in US history by a shooter motivated by the teachings of islam, has furthered my conviction that England has made the right decision. I just hope the people here in the US stop following the EU and take a stand as England did
