I would like to discuss here your favourite trading softaware. It’s rather interesting what features do traders value in tarding platforms. Please, give your reasons and examples here.I’m not asking you to give names of your favourite software. Please, describe features, which you find useful or you would like to have in your trading platform.
As for me, it’s very important to have a function which gives opportunity to manage all my orders actively and modify them by one-click. It’s just because right now I start scalping.
I like Mt4 because it is the most commonly used trading platform and so you can find multiple supports for it from EAs, to programmers who will fix your EA or your indi for you, or help from kind people who are kind enough to teach you how to fully utilize the tools in MT4 like, fibs, andrew’s, gann, etc.
Yes, tradeinterceptor on the phone is so helpful.
It connects pretty fast too, and you can have multiple charts at once, and have multiple indicators.
The best part is, you can draw trendlines, fibonacci retracement levels and it also has a lot of indicators(which I only use a CCI and WPR) but its still cool to see.
Okay. As as far as I understand the platform should be commonly used, availability of people who can teach you operating the platform, support of many EAs, mobility, fast connection, multiple charts-these are the main features which you need in your trading software, aren’t they? And what about other traders? May be anyone likes some special peculiarities which have not been mentioned here?
For example, I like in the platform to have the possibility to customize its trading area fully for my needs. I mean, I like when I’m able to put platform’s panels in the place where I want to see them etc. So, fully customization-that’s what i need, too.
well I’m a trader and developer in 1 person and my favorite is mine own app (ok it’s not trading tool but very usefull widget) - Forex Calendar Notifier (for android OS) . Don’t want to paste links, but it’s available for free (also PRO version) on google play store and it shows forex economic news/calendar, allows to set notifications, shows actual values and forecasts, and many more…Just simple and very usefull tool, many my friends are using it are very satisfied
If we’re talking strictly trading software… my favorite so far is NinjaTrader. Not because it’s necessarily the best, but because I am somewhat familiar with scripting for it, it’s free for the most part, and easy to mess around with.
It is the main software that I use for trading as well. It just happens to be the one that I do scripting on, I’m a very low novice btw with regards to scripting, but I can usually accomplish whatever I need to.
But I think it is good for beginners who want to script basic things because it’s so widespread, and sample scripts and help from others is readily available.
Given the cost of it (free), imo it fits most of my needs.
As for back testing, honestly can’t speak too much to the value in that.
As far as I remember ninja has only its own programming language? what do you do if you have mql4 script and want to change it a little bit? i ask because mql4 is a widespread language and most of the scripts are written in it.
I should correct my previous statement because fxTrade is a Web trading platform, not actual software. There is a fxTrade app for iOS and Android, though.
And what do I like about fxTrade? Two things: 1). Ease of use. I tried many other platforms, but this one suits me the most. And I should mention that charts are simply awesome. You can draw trend lines, Fibonacci retracement levels (Not many Forex brokers offer these functions on their Web platforms). 2). Demo trading is like real trading. Really, I get charged for trades left overnight, balance interests, spreads get higher during news… and many other things that let you experience realistic trading as much as possible.
Things are good so far. I’ll see what will happen when I invest my first deposit and start real trading.
